In pursuit of
the family’s life work
“The aromatic concentration of our grapes draws inspiration from an environment forged by centuries of change.”
Vision and Philosophy
At the heart of the garrigue in the hinterland of Montpellier, in a magical valley outlined by the crests of Pic Saint-Loup and Hortus, the estate thrives on this unique, age-old terroir. It is first and foremost the terroir, before our carefully honed expertise, that underscores our fine wines.
Relief and aspect
Spanning 80 hectares, the Combe de Fambetou is a small valley and home to both red and white grapes. The reds are planted on the slopes, with Syrah occupying the humid, northern slopes of Pic Saint-Loup, Mourvèdre on the south-facing slopes under the cliff-face of Hortus, while Grenache, best suited to more moderate temperatures, occupies the lower, drier slopes. The whites prefer the coarse, alluvial soils bordering the ‘river’ – a wash only flowing in stormy weather – along the valley floor. These cooler soils favour more late-ripening varieties, and yield fresh, aromatic wines.
“On these magical terroirs,
our considered, intelligent
and modest practices
are borne of knowledge
and experience”
Agriculture in tune with nature
By observing the flora naturally present in and around the vines, and having conducting extensive soil studies for a better understanding of the different sites and climates, the vineyard has been planted and managed in perfect harmony with the natural environment.
Our ability to craft terroir-driven fine wines is founded on a cultivated, landscaped ecosystem in perfect, long-term balance. Here in this magnificent, natural setting, where vines live in symbiosis with the trees, where cultivated clearings and forests grow in harmony to form a haven of rich biodiversity, every measure is taken to ensure our practices preserve and enhance this unique, natural heritage.
“Creating a site so seamlessly integrated into the landscape and capable of producing fine wine.”
Integrated architecture
Cutting-edge winery facilities. Testament to our bold vision of a profession that allies centuries-old expertise with modernity, the sleek architecture combines noble materials and contemporary aesthetics, where the functional buildings are designed specifically to meld seamlessly into the vineyard landscape.
A close-knit family, brought together by this unique setting.
Our Family
Following in the footsteps of pioneers Jean and Marie-Thérèse, the next generation – Marie, François, Yves and Martin – have worked tirelessly for almost a quarter of a century to see this life mission progress from strength to strength.
Marie passed away in 2022, and together with Marie-Thérèse, remains forever instilled in our memories, and in everything we do.
And so, the adventure continues. Our profession evolves in tune with the environment. And looking to the future, François, Yves and Martin will one day pass on their skills and know-how to ensure our magnificent garden lives on for future generations.
“An experienced team,
where everyone has a part to play.”
Team spirit
With the second generation now at the helm, over the years we have developed a deeper understanding of the terroir and finetuned practices in the vineyard and winery in pursuit of even greater precision. Our longstanding, trusted partners are at the pinnacle of their profession, while our young recruits are quick to embrace the core values of our family business.
Working together as a team, we uphold the utmost quality standards, underpinned by the long-term priorities we have established.
